More than a tonne of cocaine produced in Colombia was seized last Wednesday by the drug prosecution service near the port of Le Havre (northwestern France), a source close to the police told Agence France-Presse, confirming an information published by Lear.
Several people allegedly involved in a drug trafficking ring were arrested, according to the same source, who did not want to go into details.
In early December, customs officers seized a shipment of 1.5 tonnes of cocaine hidden in a container passing through the same port, the final destination of which is unknown.
French authorities seized 18 tonnes of cocaine in 2021, up from 13 in 2020, according to Figaro figures confirmed by a source in the French agency.
