Slightly reduced compared to 2017 and quite reduced compared to 2012 seems to be the participation of French in the first round of today parliamentary elections. At 18.00 Greek time, 39.4% of those registered to vote had voted, compared to 40.75% who had voted at the same time in 2017 and 48.31% in 2012.
With the abstention estimated at around 53%, the French are still coming to the 70,000 constituencies to elect their 577 deputies, out of a total of around 6,300 candidates.
In the polling stations of the big cities they will be able to vote until 21.00 Greek time, while in the rest of the country other polling stations will close one hour before and another two hours before.
The media have the right to give their estimates for the results after the closing of the last ballot, ie at 21.00 Greek time. Results that will be assessed on the basis of the already counted ballots in the polling stations that close earlier and which are more or less considered reliable. On the contrary, the predictions for the seats that each party will have next Sunday, when the second round will take place, are considered less reliable as they will be based on opinion polls that are being carried out today outside the polling stations.
