France: Air France-KLM group to buy 100 A320neo from Airbus

The Air France-KLM group announced today that it will buy from Airbus 100 A320neo to strengthen the fleets of KLM and Transavia, which is a significant blow to Boeing, which has so far equipped these companies with aircraft of this type. .

The group reserves the right to acquire another 60 such aircraft as well as four long-haul A350F Cargo.

French Transport Minister Jean-Baptiste Jembari welcomed the order, saying it was the largest in the history of the French-Dutch group.

For Air France-KLM, this market decision, which theoretically exceeds $ 10 billion in list prices – which are never enforced – reflects “the group’s ambition to improve its financial and environmental performance using state-of-the-art aircraft” .

Until now, Air France used only A320 and A220 aircraft while the Dutch KLM and Transavia, the group’s “low cost” subsidiary used Boeing 737NG, the previous generation of 737 MAX.

Deliveries of the first aircraft are expected to be made in the second quarter of 2023. The aircraft will be used for medium-haul flights to Europe, mainly from Amsterdam Schiphol and Orly airports in Paris.
