France: Allegation that two minor brothers were raped at the Saint-Nicolas de la Dalmerie Greek Orthodox monastery

Two brothers spoke to the newspaper Libération they complained the Greek Orthodox monastery Saint-Nicolas de la Dalmerie located in Franceas they claimed that they rushed by monks, when they were minors.

According to liberation.frthe rapes allegedly took place during their stay for three summers from 1978-1980, in the Orthodox monastery located in the south of France, 60 kilometers from Montpellier and belonging to the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

As mentioned in the publication, according to the testimony of the two brothers who are now 50 years old, the first time they were abused by two monks, they and their other brother – who did not testify in the newspaper – were 8, 10 and 12 years old . The monks they denounce as rapists have died.

The monastery, according to the publication, believes what the two brothers testify, but the acts are time-barred.

The two monks – one of whom was the director – have died but the last remaining monk, Archimandrite Gabriel Aubert, admits to the charges. He himself acknowledges that, although he had just come to the monastery, the two monks had relationships with “16-year-old” youths.
