France and Germany are considering a plan to strengthen European air defense – The Mitsotakis-Tusk proposal is also on the “table”

France and Germany are considering a plan to strengthen the air defense of the European Union, while the joint proposal submitted by Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Donald Tusk is also on the “table”. Bloomberg wrote in a related publication that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron will meet on Tuesday (28/5) to discuss the plan. Among the options available to them is reportedly the addition of yet another European air defense system to complement Germany's shorter-term European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI). Also, another option they are considering is joining a similar plan to the one proposed by Greece and Poland, which is strongly supported by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Relevant sources emphasized that Macron and Soltz are still studying the details of their countries' cooperation to strengthen European air defense.
