France – coronavirus: Health certificate extended to transport by 10 August

The extension of the health certificate to long-distance transport which is expected to enter into force between 7 and 10 August in France, announced on Wednesday (28/7) the Deputy Minister of Transport Jean-Baptiste Djembari, who admitted that the controls cannot be “systematic”.

The law on this measure, approved by the French Parliament on the night of Sunday to Monday, July 26, “is expected to be published in the Government Gazette on August 7 and will enter into force in the following days, between August 7 and 10. Djebari revealed to the BFMTV / RMC news network.

THE obligation to present the health certificate (indicating whether the holder has completed the vaccination, has recovered from the coronavirus or has a negative test) mainly concerns domestic flights, TGV travel, Intercity (long-haul) and night trains, at the same time that for rail transport the controls will be “mass” but not “systematic”.

“We will try to do it in a way that is as functional and fluid as possible, so that we have a good percentage of control and at the same time not make life difficult for travelers,” he said, adding that he would like to avoid a “very long queues “, especially on the weekend of August 15th.

Given the number of travelers every day 400,000 as he said health certificate checks can not be systematic, he said.

“As during the curfew, there was no systematic control of people coming out (…) there will be organized controls mainly at stations, random on trains and on arrival but not in a completely watertight and systematic way,” the minister said.
