Her supreme Health authority France gives the “green light” so dentists and veterinarians be allowed to be vaccinated against COVID-19, as the country’s supply in installments will increase significantly next month.
The Authority (HAS) said in a statement that the Ministry of Health had asked it for its opinion on how to urgently integrate new categories of health personnel into the vaccination campaign.
“Increasing dosing will allow vaccination on a larger scale from April and will require mobilization of a larger number of capable professionals in order to quickly vaccinate the people “said HAS, as broadcast by AMPE.
According to HAS, dentists should be licensed and pharmacists to give vaccines to immunization centers as well as their own clinics, while vaccination centers may also be authorized to administer vaccines to medical students, laboratory technicians, veterinarians and some other categories of health professionals.
This will add about 250,000 medical workers to the vaccination campaign.
So far, France’s main challenge has been the supply of doses, not the availability of medical staff. However the government has said that expects a significant increase in the supply of vaccines from April.
About 7.1 million people, or about 11% of the population in France, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and just over 4% have been fully immunized.
The government plans to vaccinate 10 million people by mid-April, 20 million by mid-May and 30 million by summer.
