France: Doubts about Macron policy

French President Macron has been criticized for his stance on the Ukrainian issue, which is estimated to have repercussions on his candidacy.

When asked whether Macron was naive in diplomacy with Putin, there are those who say he “did well to try until the end”, but also those, like his opponent for the presidency Jean-Luc Melanson, who make fun of him with expressions like that the Russian president “wrapped him up for good.”

“President Macron is the least naive of all,” Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian raised his voice last night. “We know Putin’s game, it works with ambiguity, confusion, tension and manipulation. It is difficult to come to an agreement with him. We tried, we are not naive and the president is aware of how cynical Putin can be, so after the 2017 election “Here in Paris, he spoke clearly with him,” Le Drian said, implying evidence of Russian interference in the election process.

“From now on, Putin does not honor Russia’s signature on its international commitments, such as the 1990 Paris Charter on the inviolability of borders, or the Minsk Agreement,” he said.

1,500 signatures in support of Macron

Now it is time for President Macron to clear the way for his candidacy. According to the law, March 4 is the last margin for the official submission of signatures-support by at least 500 mayors. Although he is not yet a candidate, he has more than 1,500 signatures, but three important candidates are suffering, with the risk of being excluded.

They are: Jean-Luc Melanson (of the Radical Left) with 442 signatures for the time being and the two candidates of the extreme right, Eric Zemour with 350 signatures and Marin Lepen, who with 393 signatures stopped her campaign today, in order to gather the rest of them.
