French industrial production fell on a monthly basis in February, compared to estimates for growth, according to data from the statistical service Insee.
Total industrial production (manufacturing, energy, and construction) fell 0.9% in February from January.
Economists forecast that industrial production would increase by 0.3% compared to the previous month.
Industrial production was 4.6% lower than pre-pandemic levels in February 2020, Insee reported.
Manufacturing production fell 0.5% in February compared to the previous month. Energy production decreased by 2.7% and construction production increased by 2.7%.
Insee also revised its January data to an increase of 1.8% from the previous one which spoke of an increase of 1.6%.
