France: Fewer Covid patients in ICU, stress on the health system is reduced

The number of Covid-19 patients admitted to intensive care units inFrance decreased, as well as the number of hospitalized, the Ministry of Health announced today, in an indication that the pressure on the health system is beginning to ease.

The figures show that 5,877 patients in France are being treated in the ICU today, 37 fewer than yesterday. The number of hospitalized patients decreased by 143 compared to yesterday, out of a total of 30,329 patients. This is the fifth consecutive daily reduction of the number in one week.

France imposed its third national lockdown this month in a bid to stem the tide.

The country has recorded 189 new deaths in hospitals in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths from the epidemic in France is 74,423. The total number of deaths exceeded the limit of 100,000 on Thursday.
