France for AstraZeneca vaccine: It should continue to be used

The French medicines regulator ANSM announced today that it agrees with the recommendation of the European Medicines Agency that AstraZeneca’s new coronavirus vaccine should continue to be used in vaccination campaigns.

Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Bulgaria have suspended the use of the vaccine following reports of blood clots in people who have been vaccinated.

ANSM pointed out that only one case of blood clotting has been reported in France, after vaccination with AstraZeneca preparation and there is no evidence that it is associated with the vaccine.

“The benefit / risk ratio of the vaccine remains positive,” ANSM said on its website.

The French regulator has said it is evaluating the safety of all Covid-19 vaccines available in France and is actively monitoring their side effects.

“The vaccination will be done in every available area, we will succeed”

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi today visited the coronavirus vaccination center at Rome Fiumicino-Leonardo da Vinci Airport.

Addressing the medical staff, the volunteers and all Italians via television, Draghi stressed that today his government has adopted new measures, appropriate and in line with the new data and the evolution of the pandemic.

Draghi added that “vaccination, soon, will be possible in any available space, from parking lots to offices”, while referring to the results so far:

“At this stage, we are vaccinating 170,000 people a day. Our goal is to triple this percentage. “In March, a third of the coronavirus vaccines used since the beginning of the campaign were administered,” said the Italian technocratic prime minister.

At the same time, he stated that the cases of individual deaths of citizens are being investigated a few days after the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine, but reminded that so far there is no evidence that these deaths were actually caused by this particular preparation.

“I urge everyone to wait their turn to be vaccinated. as did Italian President Sergio Matarella, “said Draghi.

The Italian Prime Minister confirmed that next week his government will approve a new package of measures to support those affected by the pandemic, with financial assistance for those who are suddenly in poverty and for freelancers.

According to the Italian press, finally, under the new restrictions, it is very likely that ten regions out of a total of twenty will be turned into a “red zone”. Among them is the region of Rome. Eight will be included in the so-called “orange zone”, with the tightening of measures, virtually throughout Italy, with the sole exception of the island of Sardinia.
