France: Macron vows to boost French purchasing power if re-elected

THE President of France Emanuel Macron said today in an interview given to TF1 TV network that if he is re-elected, the first steps he will take at the beginning of his second term will focus on strengthening the purchasing power of consumers.

He said he would maintain ceilings in petrol and energy prices and stressed that pensions would have to be adjusted on the basis of inflation from this summer.

In an interview with Le Figaro newspaper, published earlier today, Macron said the planned pension reform – which raises the retirement age to 65 – will begin in the autumn.

Emanuel Macron called his criticisms “unfounded” and “scandalous” Polish Prime Minister Matthew Morawiecki on telephone conversations between the French President and Russian President Vladimir Putin about war in Ukraine.

Morawiecki said the day before yesterday that “no one had ever negotiated with Hitler.” Macron has said he is talking to Putin because Ukrainian President Zelensky is asking for it.
