France: Macron’s campaign speech in Paris today focused on social policy

Emanuel Macron held his main pre-election rally in view of the first round of the presidential elections next Sunday, today in Paris.

During his speech he focused on social policy issues, noting that in his day unemployment has shrunk and social benefits have increased. He promised a minimum pension of 1,500 euros, but insisted on a general increase in the retirement age to 65, despite the fact that his insistence does not seem to benefit him based on opinion polls. He also focused on security issues, promising to double police patrols.

Promoting the triptych of work, progress, humanism, Macron stressed that in order to achieve the goals of his social policy, the precondition is the growth of French GDP, through the growth of work. He promised to fight tax evasion, but not to increase taxes and radically reform both the health and education sectors. In general, it was a speech focused on social issues, given that according to political analysts his re-election will largely depend on whether and to what extent he will win the French left-wing voters. His campaign speech, which took place in a closed concert hall considered one of the largest in Europe, was attended by about 35,000 people. Among them are many political figures from across the French political spectrum.
