Emanuel Macron and Marin Le Pen are leading the way in the run-up to France’s first round of presidential elections and are expected to make it to the second round, according to an Ipsos-Sopra Steria poll by France Info and Le newspaper. Paris.
Macron has 26.5%, Le Pen 20%, left-wing candidate Jean-Luc Melanson is in third place with 16%, followed by far-right Eric Zemour with 11% and Republican right-wing candidate Valerie Pecres. with 9.5%.
In the second round, the poll shows Macron as the winner with a percentage of 54%.
The poll was conducted between March 29 and April 1 on a representative sample of 1,708 adults and the margin of statistical error is +/- 0.7 to 2.4%.
Similar percentages (28% for Macron, 21.5% for Le Pen and 15% for Melanson) are given for the first round by the Ifop-Fiducial poll.
