France: Possibility of lifting the vaccination pass open in late March – early April

The French authorities believe that there are “reasons to hope” that “by the end of March-beginning of April we will be able to lift the vaccination package”, due to the improvement of the health condition, said today the representative of the French government, Gabriel Atal.

“The level of the number of patients remains very high, higher than the record we saw in the spring of 2020, but in the forecasts we make (…), there is reason to hope that in this time horizon the situation will have improved enough to “to be able to lift these final measures,” he said.

On the front of the number of cases, “the fall is clear, here we are,” the spokesman added.

Professor Allen Fischer, the head of the vaccination campaign in the country, said in front of the Senate today that the lifting of the vaccination package is possible “by the end of March” in early “April” if a number of conditions are met.

“From a scientific and medical point of view, we need a reduced incidence, we are at 2,500. Reduced means significantly less, at least 10 or 20 times less, but there are elements of context, if we give a number it will not make sense,” he said.

He also spoke of the need “for hospital hospitals to be relieved of pressure, for hospitals to return to normal and for patients without Covid to be able to be treated without delay”. “High vaccination coverage with booster doses is also required,” he noted.

Fischer stressed that the prospect of investigation is “fragile ground”, but according to him “can go quite fast”, because the frequency decreases “rather quickly”.

Atal agreed, saying the vaccination pass would be lifted “as soon as the situation in the hospitals normalizes, meaning that there will no longer be a hospital under too much pressure because of Covid.”

The death toll in France since the start of the epidemic rose to 133,614 last night. Over 80% of the total population has received at least one dose of vaccine, while 78.5% are fully vaccinated.
