France: Reprimand against E. Bourne’s government by the Melanson bloc on July 5

LAST UPDATE: 13.36

The left-wing political coalition New Ecological and Social Popular Union (NUPES), led by Jean-Luc Melanson, which unites most of the Left and the Greens in France, as well as the center-left Socialist Party, will file a motion of censure against the government of the Prime Minister of France, Elizabeth Bourne, on July 5, at the new National Assembly, as broadcast by Reuters.

NUPES emerged as the second political force in the country in the parliamentary elections that ended yesterday Sunday, with the holding of the second round.

The central political bloc “Ensemble”, which politically supports the government of Mrs. Bourne and the political agenda of the President of France, Emanuel Macron, will not have an absolute majority in the new composition of the body, which is expected to lead France in a period of governmental and wider political instability.

Based on the results of the second round of the parliamentary elections so far, in a total of 577 seats, the central bloc Ensemble takes 246 seats (for any autonomous majority 289 are needed), the left block NUPES wins 142 seats, far right “National Alarm“by Marin Lepen 89 seats, the traditional Center-right (Republicans) and its center-right allies (Union of Democrats and Independents – UDI) 64 seats, while various independent candidates Left-Center-Left 13 seats and various independent candidates of the wider Center-Right 9 seats.

Six seats are received by candidates of local orientation, 5 seats by independent candidates of the Center, 2 independent far-right candidates, while 1 seat is received by another independent candidate.

Elizabeth Bourne was appointed Prime Minister by Em. Long after the start of the latter’s second five-year term at the helm of the French state, in May, she is considered a center-left technocrat. The two prime ministers of Macron’s first five-year presidency, Edouard Philippe and Jean Castex, came from the wider center-right.

In the event of a vote of no confidence in the French parliament, President Macron will have to appoint a new prime minister and a new government, which will have the support of other forces besides the Ensemble in the National Assembly. a very difficult business.

It is recalled that the current President of France reserves the right to dissolve the National Assembly and call early parliamentary elections, but not more often than once a year.
