France: Slight slowdown in manufacturing

French processing slowed slightly more than expected in March, as the war in Ukraine and a resurgence of coronavirus outbreaks affected demand.

IHS Markit said the index fell to 54.7 from 57.2 points in February.

March data was marginally lower than initially estimated at 54.8 points, but the index remains firmly above 50 points separating growth from recession.

“It is clear that risks to the industry have arisen. Supply chain problems persist. We have received reports from respondents that they continue to have difficulty sourcing raw materials and components for their production lines,” said S&P Global economist. Joe Hayes.
