The presentation of the new brand was made on the occasion of a solemn meeting of the leadership of her party “New People’s Union for Ecology and Society” in which, as is well known, all the parties that are positioned in the area of the left are now participating. This coalition has provoked strong reactions, mainly from the field of Socialists and Ecologists.
Speaking at the assembly, Jean-Luc Melanson, who was made dominant in the French left by the presidential election, described as historic the fact that the latter will come down united in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He supported the need to break with “the forty years of neoliberalism that dominates the planet, plunders our societies, threatens nature and destroys people.” Referring to environmental issues, he distanced himself from the Macron government’s stance in favor of nuclear energy, while in the case of Ukraine, he directly condemned Russia’s aggressive war. Finally, Melanson stated that if he wins the parliamentary majority and becomes prime minister, the minimum wage will rise to 1,400 euros and retire before the age of sixty-five.
