The new wave of the Covid-19 pandemic is expected to peak at the end of July Francewhich has been triggered by new variants of the virus, said today the top scientific adviser of the French government Jean-François Delfresi.
“The peak has not come yet, this peak of cases will probably occur at the end of July. “Then the BA.5 variant will reappear, unless it is overtaken by another variant… in the autumn,” Delfresi told RTL radio.
In the last 24 hours, France recorded 124,724 cases of coronavirus compared to 77,967 recorded a week earlier.
On Tuesday, French Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne asked the prefects and health authorities encourage the use of a protective mask “In crowded places” and in “closed spaces”, especially “in public transport”, where from May 16 it is no longer mandatory. So far, these are “recommendations” without a mandatory character, reports APE-MPE, citing AFP.
Bourne also called for “prevention messages to be multiplied,” such as “indoors should be ventilated regularly,” “diagnostic tests should be performed as soon as the first symptoms appear, and people should be isolated immediately if tested positive.”
