France: “Unfortunately we are going bankrupt,” said Republican candidate Valerie Pecres, referring to her party

Unfortunately we are going bankrupt. This is the first and only statement made today by the Republican candidate Valerie Pekres, arriving at the party headquarters in Paris.

Pekres stressed that the party does not collect 5% and therefore is not entitled to state compensation for election expenses. He appealed to find donors, noting that a large part of the debts, about five million euros, he has personally undertaken.

The neo-colonial Republican Party was founded on May 30, 2015 to succeed the Union for a Popular Movement founded by Jacques Chirac. In addition to Chirac, President Nicolas Sarkozy was elected president with the Union flag, receiving 53% of the vote in the second round of the 2007 presidential election. In the previous presidential election (2017), with the candidate François Fillon, the Republican party received 20% of the vote in the first round.
