France wants a united EU over Russian and Chinese vaccines

The issue of Chinese and Russian vaccines that have not yet been approved for administration in the EU was raised by French Minister of European Affairs Clement Bon, emphasizing that the solidarity of the European Union will be affected if countries of the European bloc choose them.

“If they were going to choose the Chinese and / or Russian vaccine, I think that would be very serious,” Bonn told RTL radio, according to AMPE.

“It would be a problem for our solidarity, but it also poses a health risk because the Russian vaccine has not yet been approved in Europe. An application for approval has been submitted, but is not yet authorized in Europe “And no request has been made yet for the Chinese vaccine,” Bonn added.

The Russian vaccine Sputnik V has already been approved or is in the process of being evaluated for approval in three countries in the east wing of the EU – Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic – as delays are causing problems for vaccination programs across the EU.

The European Medicines Agency has begun evaluating the Russian vaccine for possible approval.

Polish President Andrei Duda also had contacts with Chinese leader Xi Jinping to buy the Chinese vaccine against COVID-19, his adviser to the state-run PAP news agency said on Monday, although Health Minister Adam Nijilsky said on Wednesday that he did not currently recommend the vaccine due to insufficient data.

The European Commission announced yesterday that there are no ongoing talks for the purchase of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.
