France will continue to import Russian gas, but quantities will ‘vary’

France will continue to import Russian gas in the coming days, the country’s energy minister said on Thursday, but added that quantities would vary depending on the overall supply situation in neighboring European countries, according to Reuters.

“Today we are in a situation where we are receiving Russian gas,” said Agnes Pannier-Runacher.

Gas flows from Germany to France were halted last week following Russia’s politically motivated decision to cut supplies to the European Union, as German officials described it.

Berlin today launched the second phase of its gas contingency plan, as Russian supplies fell further.
