Francesca Deidda was killed with a shot to the forehead: the autopsy established

Francesca Deidda was killed with a sharp blow to the right side of the foreheadinflicted with a blunt object.

This is confirmed by the autopsy, performed yesterday afternoon by Dr. Roberto Demontis on the forty-two-year-old who disappeared two and a half months ago from San Sperate, whose remains were found in a duffel bag in the countryside between Sinnai and San Vito.

The examination of Francesca Deidda’s body lasted almost five hours: together with Roberto Demontis, the coroner appointed by the prosecutor Marco Cocco, who is coordinating the investigations, there were also Giulia Caccia, the forensic anthropologist appointed by the Prosecutor’s Office, the lawyer Gianfranco Piscitelli who represents Andrea Deidda, the victim’s brother, and the anthropologist appointed by Piscitelli, Chantal Milani, for Roberta Bruzzone.

Apart from the marks of the blow on the right side of the forehead, no other marks were found. The woman, according to the hypotheses, she could have been killed with that single shot, maybe while she was sleeping, maybe on the sofa at home. Igor Sollai, Francesca Deidda’s husbandis in prison on charges of voluntary homicide and concealment of a corpse.

Forensic anthropologist Giulia Caccia has asked to be able to carry out a new inspection both in the apartment in San Sperate where the couple lived, and in the countryside where the body was found.

Yesterday The RIS of Cagliari have already carried out an inspection outside the houseon the back: it is possible that the bag in which Francesca Deidda’s body had been hidden was thedropped from a window precisely to avoid carrying him down the stairs, with the risk of being discovered. At the moment it has not yet been possible to establish the precise moment of death.

A few days ago the Carabinieri of the RIS had already inspected the apartment in San Sperate for about 7 hours, and the analyses confirmed the investigators’ suspicions: the organic traces found on the sofa fabric belong to the 42 year old. The military took away all the pillows for further analysis.

The following are also underway in-depth analysis of biological and blood traces found on board the Toyota Yaris which was in use by Francesca Deidda and that her husband had put up for sale, advising the buyer to sanitize and clean it well. According to investigators, it is likely that Sollai, after killing his wife at home, used the car to transport the body to the isolated place where, thanks to molecular dogs, the bag with her remains was found.

Disappearance

Francesca Deidda, a call center employee, disappears into thin air on May 10. Only at the beginning is it hypothesized that she may have left voluntarilyperhaps for a break from work, since her marriage was now falling apart. But, as the days passed, her friends and relatives, unable to get in touch with her, began to fear that something had happened to her.

The investigations only started on the night of May 30thwhen Francesca Deidda’s brother, Andrea, filed a complaint with the San Sperate police, suspecting that the woman’s husband, Igor Sollai, a 43-year-old truck driver, may have played a role in the disappearance.

In fact, Sollai allegedly tried to mislead Francesca’s friends and relatives by using his wife’s smartphone, but he allegedly made several mistakes. A colleague of the woman is also said to have set a trap for him: on May 31, when no one believed that Francesca had left voluntarily, the colleague had sent a message to Deidda’s cell phone in which, referring to the resignation presented by Igor Sollai with an email in his wife’s name, she announced that her colleague “Giulia” had also resigned. In reality, there was no Giulia in the office. But, from her cell phone, presumably in her husband’s hand, the response had arrived: “Really?”.

Igor Sollai continues to deny any responsibilityreiterate his innocence and support the version according to which his wife had left voluntarily.
