Francesco Centorame, from Skam to Vanity Fair Stories

For some, he could be the new Pierfrancesco Favino, given that he played the young version of the actor in two films – The best years by Gabriele Muccino and The hummingbird by Francesca Archibugi -. For someone else, however, it will always be Elia, the character of SKAM Italy which gave him success and which, in the fifth season available on Netflix, managed to tell himself like he had never done before. He is Francesco Centorame, Abruzzo by birth and Roman by adoption, ready to take the stage of Vanity Fair Stories Saturday 26 November on two occasions: for the opening day on the notes of a very delicate tribute to Giorgio Gaber, and for a panel dedicated to SKAM Italy which will give him the opportunity to tell his experience on and off the set together with his colleagues Beatrice Bruschi, Federico Cesari, Giancarlo Commare, Rocco Fasano, Lea Gavino, Mehdi Meskar and Pietro Turano.

Born in 1996 in Monte Silvano, in Abruzzo, Francesco Centorame was able to relate to pain very early. As he told Vanity Fair, the actor lived a particularly complicated adolescence due to the depression and panic attacks with which he lived for some time. «I only came out of it thanks to theater and therapy», Centorame confided to us, adding that «I was lucky enough to explore pain, suffering and loneliness, and I came out of it, managing to transform anxiety into positive energy. At 26 I think I’m at a good level of awareness. Or, at least, I like to think so.”

Together with an extraordinary artistic career – in 2023 we will see him on Rai1 in fiction Marshal Fenoglio next to Alessio Boni -, Francesco Centorame lives a personal moment that could not be happier. In 2020, in fact, the baby was born Leonardohad with his partner Valentina Salvagno: «My partner taught me that love is giving to the other, and that is why at one point I told her that I wanted her to be the mother of my child. Leonardo is making me rediscover the magic of simplicity, which is everything in my work. If we don’t remove the fear of judgement, which blocks and doesn’t make you realize your dreams, we become the limit of ourselves. Without considering social networks, which seem to tell you every day that everyone is cooler than you”.
