“That’s right, it’s an honor for me to be able to put my face into this project. We are all different and, basically, expressing diversity means expressing who we are: the problem exists when diversity becomes a reason for bullying. It is this type of reaction that must be fought ».
Has anyone ever made her feel different?
“Yes, but not in a bad way. I have always been an extroverted child with an aptitude for artistry, I have always placed myself at the center of attention, I was always chosen as the protagonist of the plays and in high school I already played blues: this, however, led me to suffer a slight bullying , because I was continually pointed out and isolated. Probably there was a healthy envy involved which, on the spot, even made me suffer a little, but I must say that I lived everything with great awareness ».
The isolation, in fact, did not take away the hunger of the stage.
“This is why I would like this campaign to help see one’s diversity as an advantage to be expressed, an opportunity to demonstrate one’s uniqueness: being different does not mean being weak, but being precious”.
Being precious is, perhaps, something we have all rediscovered after this year. He recently returned to Sanremo but, unlike the other times, he found himself without an audience. What did he feel?
“I didn’t feel the emotional fabric linked to the fact that the Ariston was empty: the feeling you have in Sanremo is that of being live in front of millions of people or, at least, I’ve always lived it like this. In my experience it didn’t make that much difference, then. Of course, this year I went back in a different way, as an author and as a knight of the great Ornella Vanoni: I really enjoyed living it in this way, trying to draw the positive side from it. It was exciting to assist Ornella ».
In fact, you seem to get along very well.
«I had the pleasure of meeting her in this last year, I wrote her this song, I met her and I made her listen to it. Beyond the artistic question, a beautiful relationship was born from a human point of view: she is ironic like me, and we had fun from the first moment. We often talk to each other on the phone just to say hello, to have a laugh. I found in her a very sweet person who does not always appear when seeing her from the outside. She presents herself as a free woman, without filters, almost cynical, instead she is much more or, at least, she is with me. He will see me as the likeable nephew. ‘
Do you, on the other hand, have filters?
«Basically no, but the way I put myself always has to do with positivity: I always like to communicate something beautiful to the other, trying to keep the darkest and most reflective aspects for myself. In the end we are in a perennial balance between the positive and the negative, but I have always preferred to work hard to give a smile ».
How do you deal with the dark moments?
«Looking for contact with nature. I have chosen to continue living in a place surrounded by greenery precisely for this reason, to have the opportunity to walk or take the bicycle feeding on what surrounds me. Nature leads me to reflect on myself and on life: I look for this type of sensation in my most intimate dimension. This year, in its difficulty, it has led us to reconsider certain values, to rediscover the pleasure of simple things ».
What have you rediscovered?
«The sense of sharing that we always take a little for granted. I have greatly re-evaluated the fact of not being able to meet, see and hug loved ones ».
Music and concerts, after all, are sharing. Are you optimistic about the restart?
«I’m hopeful, I can’t wait to be able to go back to concerts. I don’t want to be a mystic, but in this I am a great advocate of the law of abstraction, trusting that the universe will respond well. We hope as soon as possible to resume living our lives to the full ».
You, then, a great devourer of stages, will suffer a lot not being able to go up there.
«I miss him, even though I was one of the few who during last summer took advantage of the fact that concerts could be made for a thousand people appropriately spaced: I can’t wait to go back to doing them. The vibration and energy that is felt by living the space with the public is real, it is true, and it cannot be replicated in any other way, not even on social networks.
