Pope Francis, a voice of the poor who reformulated the Catholic Church, died at the age of 88 on Monday (21). The Pope’s death was announced by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Vatican’s Camerlengo.
The news of Pope Francis’ death reverberated with deep sadness between religious and faithful leaders around the world. In Brazil, the Father Júlio Lancellotti known for his work with the homeless, expressed his grief and highlighted the legacy of mercy and compassion of the pontiff.
In a video published on his social networks, Father Júlio shared a special gift from Pope Francis: a solidéu, a little hat used by the Pope, sent as a gesture of affection and proximity to the street brothers attended by the Pastoral of the Street People.

“‘Solidéu’ means ‘only of God.’ That’s why the Pope uses. And when, in Rome, he wanted to send a concrete gesture of affection, he said, ‘Make it to the street brothers like my gesture of affection and proximity,’” said the priest.
Visibly thrilled, Father Júlio stressed the importance of the legacy left by Francisco: “May we all have always present the legacy of Pope Francis. Francis, the merciful” .
Death of Francisco
The Pope’s death was announced by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Vatican’s Camerlengo. “Dear brothers and sisters, it is with deep sadness that I communicate the death of our holy Father Francis,” said a statement from Camerlengo.
Farrell continued: “He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with faithfulness, courage, and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized.”
The Argentine pontiff underwent episodes of respiratory difficulties earlier this year. He was hospitalized for almost 40 days at Gemelli Hospital and was discharged on March 23.
Then the Pope received a diagnosis of pneumonia in both lungs, a condition that can ignite and heal the organs, making breathing difficult.
The Vatican described the Pope’s infection as “complex” and explained that it was caused by two or more microorganisms.
While in the hospital, the pontiff presented different health conditions, having worse followed by improvements.
