Fraport Greece, extending its biodiversity protection strategy to 14 regional airports and working closely with ACI World, has signed the Buckingham Declaration “United for Wildlife” to tackle wildlife smuggling.

Recognizing the huge impact on the natural environment and ecosystems, the airport management company pledged to take part in tackling the phenomenon.

Taking an active role alongside leading companies in the international transport industry, Fraport Greece will immediately proceed with the establishment of protocols, in order to notify the competent authorities for the fight against the illegal trade in animals at the 14 regional airports. The action plan for the implementation of the company’s commitments is part of the Biodiversity Protection Program of Fraport Greece and is under the “umbrella” of the holistic strategy for its sustainable development.

With wildlife protection at the top of its priorities, Fraport Greece aims to raise awareness of Greek and European institutional actors in order to tackle wildlife smuggling as coordinated as possible.
