The Center for Legal Assistance to Citizens in the Digital Environment warned of cases of borrowing by fraudsters in the names of users of the State Services portal. Director of the Center Lyudmila Kurovskaya told the TASS news agency about this.
One of the victims turned to the Center after loans were issued in his name in October this year. The attackers managed to gain access to his office on the State Services portal, after which they made a digital copy of the passport with the victim’s data and sent requests for microloans to several financial companies. After a certain time, the man began to receive calls from employees demanding to repay loans.
He found out about “his” debts on the portal itself by requesting a credit history. Despite the fact that the specialists of the Center helped the victim to prepare a declaration on the invalidity of the loan agreements, the two financial companies did not cancel the deal and continue to accrue interest. Now the court will deal with this case.
This is not the only case of such fraud. Since September this year, the Center has received 309 complaints from people of different ages, but the most vulnerable are people of the older generation.
