X-accounts with an official tick are distributed by fraudulent tweets about the fake airrrod XRP to mislead users.
We tell you what you need to know about the new scheme of scammers and what techniques are used by attackers.
Fraud with airrrop XRP
In the past few days, the verified X-accounts have spread rumors about the Airrrop XRP, using the video made with the help of AI, in which Brad Garlinghaus was supposedly starred.
Fraud schemes remained unchanged. The X-account with a tick published a “notification” about supposedly airrrop XRP. All these accounts were called “Ripple News”, even if the username had nothing to do with cryptocurrency. As the Beincrypto team found out, some of these accounts had almost 100,000 subscribers.
The posts arose in the tape as advertising, and under each such news, supportive comments from bots were already left. Among these comments there was also information on how to get a bonus airrrop, and reviews with a demonstration of the alleged XRP wallets.
How the community reacts
These fraudulent schemes have been observed for several weeks – since the legal conflict SEC and Ripple has been completely settled. Trading futures on XRP and excitement around ETF can give attackers a chance to attract new victims.
The Ripple community is at the peak of excitement, but must remain vigilant so as not to fall for the bait of scammers. Meanwhile, the administrators of the X removed many violating posts. For example, last week, cryptocurrency scammers have published a list of illegal verified accounts.
Since the publication of this list, all profiles from the list were either blocked or deleted all violating posts.
