The user lost $ 2.6 million in USDT due to two phishing attacks that attackers made within three hours. This was reported by Cyvers analysts.
🚨ALERT🚨OR SYSTEM HAS DETECTED ~ 2.6M $ USDT Loss from a Targeted Address Poisoning Scam Involving Zero-Value Transfers. A SINGLE VICTIM WAS Repeatedly Scammed by the Same Attacker Address.
FIRST, The Victim Lost 843k $ USDT.
⏳ ABOUT 3 HOURS LATER, The SAME Victim Sent 1.75M … pic.twitter.com/wwvlrzvavk– 🚨 Cyvers alerts 🚨 (@cyversalerts) May 26, 2025
The amount of the first transaction amounted to 843,000 USDT, after three hours the criminals received another 1.75 million USDT. They used the mechanism of “zero translations”. Fraudsters imitated the sending of tokens from the victim’s wallet to a fake address, but the amount of the transaction was zero.
Such operations do not require confirmation by a private key, but are displayed in the history of translations. The user accepts a fake address for the trusted one and sends real funds to attackers.
The tactics of “zero translations” are a new way of “poisoning” of crypto -adales. This is a type of fraud in which attackers send the victim small amounts from an address similar to the present. Typically, the first and last symbols of the wallet coincide – it is on them that users most often pay attention before sending funds.
The purpose of the attack is to deceive the victim to transfer funds to the address of the attackers. As a rule, people who copy the address from the history of transactions come true.
In March, the “poisoning” of crypto -neadres brought hackers $ 1.2 million in three weeks. On February 20, one of the victims lost $ 763,662.
To combat the “poisoning” of Trugard and Webacy, a Jean system for attack detecting attacks. Tests showed 97% of accuracy.
