On the night of September 20, the administration of the Balancer protocol reported that the project website had been hacked. Possible damage from hackers’ actions is $238,000.
Users are asked not to interact with the resource and not to confirm requests from it:
The balancer frontend is under an attack. The issue is currently under investigation. Please do NOT interact with the balancer UI until further notice!

The administration noted that it is already conducting an investigation. There were no new statements from the project team at the time of writing.
According to experts PeckShieldthe probable damage from the actions of the attackers is about $238,000. The number of victims is not specified.
Presumably, the hacker withdrew part of the funds received to the MEXC exchange. At the same time, a representative of the project team under the pseudonym Cosme Fulanito statedthat the protocol storage was not affected.
As Exponential DeFi experts noted, when going to the Balancer website, the user is asked to confirm a malicious smart contract. The hacker then gains access to the victim’s funds.
Notably, this is the second Balancer cybersecurity incident recently. At the end of August 2023, experts discovered a vulnerability in the protocol pools.
Despite the fact that the administration was warned, the platform was hacked for $900,000.
