Fraudsters steal cryptocurrencies using Tiktok

Fraudsters began to kidnap the cryptocurrency with the help of the spy program SPARKKITTY, which is distributed through fake stores on the Tiktok platform, CTM360 cybersecurity experts said.

The spy program Sparkkitty contains a malicious utility called Fraudontok. The hybrid model allows you to deceive customers and participants in partnership programs on Tiktok, explained in CTM360.

After installation on the device, Fraudontok penetrates the account of its owner, gets access to the photo gallery and searches for screenshots containing information about cryptocurrency wallets.

CTM360 experts believe that the simultaneous use of phishing and the Trojan program makes Fraudontok extremely dangerous. In addition, scammers create marketplaces with an identical design with the official Tiktok Shop, Tiktok Wholesale and Tiktok Mall. Visitors are encouraged to enter the system and make purchases. At the stage of placing an order, it is proposed to use cryptocurrencies. People contribute funds to USDT stablecoins or broadcasts, confident that they pay for the goods, but their assets are stealing and redirecting to the addresses of scammers.

CTM360 experts have discovered more than 5,000 malicious applications spreading through Tiktok and the funds created for theft.

Earlier, Check Point researchers reported that scammers launched a campaign called JSCEAL, designed for cryptocurrency holders. Fraudsters advertise programs that mimic under at least 50 famous applications, including those known as Binance, Metamask and Kraken.
