According to The Sun, the family of the artist was bothered by the sale of objects without being consulted before. In 1991, Mary Austin received half of Freddie Mercury’s inheritance after her death.

It is speculated that the singer’s personal collection, under the possession of his ex, was sold for £ 40 million (more than $ 303 million). The newspaper indicated that part of the money was intended for Elton John Aids Foundation and Mercury Phoenix Trust, founded by Queen members.

The band’s singer’s sister would have participated anonymously in the auctions. Among the auctioned pieces would be a jacket made for his 39th birthday, the vest used in the music video “These Are The Days of Our Lives” and other items.

The auction organized by Mary Austin was entitled “Freddie Mercury: the World of Hiss Own” and had buyers from several countries. The two lived a romance in the 1960s and remained friends after the end and the singer of “Bohemian Rhapsody” assumed gay.
