The time x is set at 3pm on Sunday 14 January: it is, in fact, at that moment that the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen solemnly proclaims Frederik X the new king of the country. After the Queen's historic announcement Margrethe II, who announced his intention to step aside during his end-of-year speech to the nation, the eyes of the whole world were focused on Frederikready to take up the legacy of his mother who, at 83, was the first monarch to renounce the throne in almost 900 years of the country's history. Today, Sunday 14 January, Margrethe signed the abdication during a meeting with the Danish Cabinet at Christiansborg Palace and then stood up and motioned for his son to take his place, saying: “God save the king”. Afterwards he slowly left the room, effectively marking the beginning of Frederik's reign, visually moved according to what was told by Daily Mail.
Thousands of people gathered outside the palace to witness, albeit indirectly, the royal succession rite, ready to welcome Frederik as their new king with jubilation and euphoria. A king without the crown – as Danish tradition dictates – but with the responsibility of the new Head of State. Together with him on this historic day, his wife Mary, born a commoner in Australia, and his 18 year old son Christian, from today new heir to the throne of Denmark. And so, while Margrethe II of Denmark returns to her residence in Amalienborg in “bourgeois”, no longer holding the role of sovereign (even if he remains «His Majesty»), Frederik prepares to fulfill his family's blood oath in the presence of many guests, from Cadet Prince Joachim to the elder sister of Crown Princess Mary Jane Stephens, passing through Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, the President of the Folketing, the Danish Parliament, Søren Gade and the President of the Supreme Court Jens Peter Christensen.

«When you resign from your high position as Queen of Denmark today, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your good cooperation over the years. As Queen of Denmark, you have been the guarantor of the closeness and love that prevails today not only between our countries but between our Royal Houses. For this I want to thank you twice. On this historic day, my family and I wish you all the best for the future”, wrote the King of Sweden to Margrethe, who bid farewell to the throne between volley batteriesthe Danish flag hanging on all public buildings and a people who, during her last evening as queen, gathered under her palace to shout thanks to her. All before the new king was officially acclaimed by the crowd looking out from the balcony of Christiansborg: the era of Frederik X has officially begun.
