Forgetting the absorbents at home or not being able to afford them will no longer be a problem for the students of the high schools of the Aosta Valley. The Region has introduced an innovative inclusion and support measure: Free hygienic absorbent distributors in the female baths of all secondary secondary institutesincluding equal schools. An initiative that responds to a concrete need, raised by the students through the Consulta in 2022.

The goal is clear: to guarantee students A fair access to an essential good and cut taboos on menstruation. The slogan of the initiative, “the cycle is not a choice”is a manifesto of intent: menstruation is a reality, and talking about it without embarrassment is a step towards a more conscious and inclusive society.

“The idea was born from a real need reiterated by the students,” said Jean-Pirre Guichardaz, councilor for the educational system of the region. «We are the first region in Italy in which the superintendency has carried out such a project in all high schools.
