Free call recording apps for Android and iPhone

Curiously, record a phone call on your own smartphones it is one of the most frustrating activities that can happen. And it is indeed surprising, given that everything is done with telephones: yet keeping track of a call costs money. Yes, because basically it’s only possible by resorting to third party applications which, to work at their best and at full capacity, with unlimited and good quality recordings, cost a lot. All this, of course, if you want to avoid resorting to artisanal methods how to talk hands-free while recording with a third device, for example with QuickTime on Mac.

Record phone calls on android

For Android the matter is simpler: on the app Telephone available for the Google operating system, in fact, it is possible to set up call recording even for numbers not included in your address book. Then just tap «Record» on the current call screen. Obviously it must be remembered that only certain devices and operators support call recording and that in any case, before the call begins, the participants will receive a notification informing them of the recording.

Other applications to record calls on Android – often their use is not exactly intuitive – are Cube Recorder-Call ACR (among the most popular and which guarantees compatibility with many versions of Android, free but with in-app purchases), RMC: Android Call Recorder (of which, however, users report non-extraordinary performance and indeed many problems) or Call Recorder – Call Xalso free but with purchases to unlock different features.

Record phone calls on iPhone

There is no native function on the iPhone, or rather there is an indirect system that allows you to do it, the one through the voice mail. The desired number is dialed and, after the interlocutor has answered, click on «Another call», select your telephone number and press on «Merge calls». In this way the file of the recorded call should be available in the answering machine.

Otherwise, even in the case of the Apple device, paid apps must be taken into consideration. The most common is TapeACall. It is not supported by Vodafone and after the initial verification it automatically carries out the same procedure described above and stores the recordings in the app. It also offers a service of transcription of conversation to and from 15 languages. It offers just 7 days free if you pay for the $55.99 annual plan. Otherwise it costs 8.99 euros per month.

Another useful application can be Rekk call recorder, also compatible with MacOs (for video conferencing or video calls on Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, Viber and so on) as well as with iOS. Also in this case you need to verify your telephone number and the mechanism is the same: the platform allows you to record incoming and outgoing phone calls without limits, to automatically transcribe the content and also audio editing to cut out the parts that are not needed . A basic version is free while you need 39.99 euros a year, 14.49 a month to buy the Premium version. Rekk is in fact free if both parties use the app. Instead, you need a plan if you want to use it normally, with calls to and from a landline or mobile.
