Free French serial killer Charles Sombraz – He was the inspiration for the Netflix series ‘The Serpent’

French serial killer Charles Sombraz, who operated in Asia in the 1970s and was the inspiration for the Netflix series, The Serpentwas released from prison in Nepal and will be deported to France.

“The government of Nepal wants to send him as soon as possible. Sobraz wants it too,” explained his lawyer, Gopal Siwakoti Chidan, who bought him a ticket with Qatar Airways departing at 18:00 local time (14:15 Greek time). “The French embassy is bringing him his travel document,” he added.

The decision to release Charles Sombraz, 78, who had been imprisoned in Nepal since 2003 for the murder of two North American tourists, was received on Wednesday by the Supreme Court of Nepal.

The serial killer was originally due to be released from prison yesterday, Thursday, but his release was delayed a day due to technical and legal issues.

After being released in 1997 he returned to Paris. But he reappeared in 2003 in Nepal, where he was located in the tourist district of Kathmandu and arrested.

The following year a jury sentenced him to life in prison for the 1975 murder of American tourist Connie Jo Bronzic. Ten years later he was also found guilty of murdering Bronzic’s Canadian partner.
