Free postal services for the blind or visually impaired by ELTA

The Hellenic Post Office provides free postal services to the blind or visually impaired.

Specifically, ELTA distributes, free of charge, postal items, weighing up to 7 kilos, sent by / to the blind or people with severe visual impairments (ie 80% disability rate) or by / to institutions / associations for the blind.

The provision concerns:

– Correspondence, literature in any form, audio documents

– Equipment or materials to help these people deal with their disability, including specially adapted CDs, Braille writing equipment, Braille watches, white sticks and recording equipment

To send the items you must:

– be filed openly, to allow their contents to be confirmed by the cashier

– indicate in the place of the stamp the indication “Objects for the blind”

bear the special marking

It is also noted that no storage fees are charged for these items, while letters to the blind are excluded from presenting at customs and submitting a declaration.
