Freight train collides with truck carrying military tank in US

A CSX freight train collided with a semi-trailer truck carrying a military vehicle at a railroad crossing in Goose Creek, South Carolina, on Thursday (12).

The accident occurred when the low-lying trailer carrying a US Army M109 howitzer got stuck on the tracks, according to local media reports.

Despite the severity of the incident, there were no reports of injuries. Witnesses described the accident as being “like a bomb going off”, with the train slamming into the stationary truck, resulting in significant damage.

Local authorities and CSX representatives are investigating the incident, which has raised concerns about the safety of rail crossings in the area.

Reuters was able to confirm the location of the video from the road layout, gas station, railway crossing, traffic lights, road signs and trees seen in the video that matched the archive footage.

Local media reports and a police statement verify the date of filming.
