French chef Didier Labbé leaves Lagoa and takes his restaurant to Ipanema

At the beginning of September, the French Didier Labbé decided to change the address of the great restaurant that bears his name, opened in 2018. The house left the spot it occupied four years ago on Avenida Alexandre Ferreira, in Lagoa, and resurfaced in a nice property on Rua Vinícius de Morais, in ipanema .

Born in Brittany, in the extreme northwest of France the friendly chef likes to define the Didier restaurant as a representative of the bistronomic . The name refers to places with the informal atmosphere of a bistro that are characterized by offering high quality cuisine.

He has plenty of luggage. Before opening his own business in Rio, Didier Labbé ruled the kitchens of the houses of the troisgros group .

Didier’s signature menu is guided by the foundations of French cuisine with welcome additions of raw materials and tropical flavors.

Still, the classics are present, such as the onion soup (R$59), with an exemplary seasoning that uses spices such as cloves and star anise, and the excellent steak tartar (R$63) garnished with fries.

Among the ten main dishes, most of them fusion-inspired, it is worth mentioning the fettuccine with roasted rabbit (R$90) and the duck magret with acerola sauce (R$92), a classic of the house. In it, the rare breast of the bird gets a delicious bordelaise sauce with a touch of acerola acidity. Cassava rosti and palmito-pupunha complete the recipe.

Another temptation is the VG shrimp (3 units) served with quinoa risotto, slightly spicy Thai sauce and baroa chips (R$107).

To close, nothing is more traditional than the French dessert île flottante (R$ 29), in a version that features snowy eggs, dulce de leche and crème anglaise.
