The 159-year-old French luxury department store Printemps has become one of the first major retailers in Europe to accept payments in cryptocurrencies.

Printemps Partnership Development Director Emmanuel Suissa said that in the chain’s stores across the country it is now possible to purchase clothing, cosmetics, accessories and other goods by paying with digital assets.

This became possible thanks to the use of the Binance Pay payment solution from the largest crypto exchange Binance, as well as a partnership with the French company Lyzi, which works in the field of cryptocurrency payments. Binance Pay clients will have the opportunity to pay for department store goods in BTC, ETH and other cryptocurrencies, including EURI and USDC stablecoins, depending on the client’s wishes, Printemps assured.

“We are proud to be the first department store chain in France to offer this opportunity. Through our partnerships with Binance and Lyzi, we are improving the customer experience by tailoring services to the needs of modern consumers through Web3 solutions,” said Emmanuelle Suissa.

In 2022, French authorities expressed their readiness to use blockchain to sell tickets for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
