French NGOs sue Mohammed bin Salman over Khashoggi murder

Lawsuit for complicity in torture and enforced disappearance for the journalist’s murder Jamal Khashoggi filed today in Paris against the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), who is visiting France, announced two non-governmental organizations and their French legal representative.

The 42-page lawsuit alleges that MbS “is complicit in the torture and enforced disappearance of Khashoggi at her consulate of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul on October 2, 2018″ and that “he does not enjoy immunity from prosecution because, as crown prince, he is not the head of state”, the NGO Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) and the organization Trial International clarify.

For her part, Khashoggi’s fiancee Khatige Cengiz said she was “outraged” that the French president Emmanuel Macron is hosting the Saudi crown prince for dinner today.

“I am outraged and shocked that Emmanuel Macron welcomes my fiance’s executioner with all honors,” she said in a message to AFP.
