Friday should be rainy in the South and firm weather in the Southeast; see weather forecast

The areas that have already been affected by large volumes of precipitation in Rio Grande do Sul are expected to be the target of new rain showers this Friday (8), according to Climatempo. The company also predicts that a mass of dry air will keep the weather firm in Southeast Brazil.

The forecast is for rain for the three southern states, caused by a cold front that advances over the region — especially in the north of Rio Grande do Sul, in the west, center and south of Santa Catarina and in the center, west and south of Paraná.

In the southern portion of the state, the weather opens up and the sun appears during the day. In the center-south and west of Rio Grande do Sul, it rains in the morning, but stops in the afternoon.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has issued a storm danger alert for the northern portion of Rio Grande do Sul. There is a risk of rain of up to 100 mm and forecast wind gusts of up to 100 km/ H.

There is also a warning of potential danger of intense rain for other areas of the state, with rainfall of up to 50 mm and winds of up to 60 km/h expected.

Santa Catarina, Paraná, the western portion of Mato Grosso do Sul and the southern part of Mato Grosso are under warning of potential storm danger, with risk of hail.

42 deaths after cyclone hits the South

The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul announced, on Thursday (7), that the number of victims caused by heavy rains caused by the passage of an extratropical cyclone in the state reached 41.

With the death confirmed in Santa Catarina, the total number of deaths in the South region rose to 42.

The information was disclosed at 7 pm this Thursday, in a balance sheet by the Rio Grande do Sul body. The announcement brought confirmation of the 38th and 39th deaths in the state: one in Muçum and another in Roca Sales.

Firm weather in the rest of the country

The cold front coming from the south could cause rain showers in the west and south of São Paulo. However, the day should be firm weather in almost the entire Southeast of Brazil, due to a mass of dry air that acts over the region. São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte will have a sunny Friday.

The exception is Vitória and the center-north of Espírito Santo. It should also rain quickly in some places in the Jequitinhonha Valley, in Minas Gerais.

Apart from the areas affected by the cold front coming from the South, the weather should also be firm in the Midwest. Isolated and rapid rain showers are expected in the Cuiabá region, in the center, west and northwest of Mato Grosso.

In the Northeast, dry and hot air inhibits the occurrence of rain. It should rain, especially, in the coastal strip of the Northeast, in addition to the Mata and Agreste areas in a strip that goes from Bahia to Rio Grande do Norte. There are also forecasts of showers in Chapada Diamantina and Planalto da Conquista.

In the south of Pará and Tocantins, the forecast is for dry and hot weather, as well as in Acre and the south of Amazonas. In the rest of the North region, it may rain separately in the afternoon and at night.
