“Friends: The Reunion” has a release date (and there is also Lady Gaga)

It has been talked about so much that, by now, it seemed almost an urban legend, a rumor reported in the newspapers only to delude us of something that would never really happen. Instead, this time, it’s all true: the meeting gave Friends finally has a release date, and it’s May 27th. That will be when HBO Max subscribers will be able to see The One Where They Get Back Together, the special episode that will review the six protagonists of the series 17 years after the farewell to the public, one of the most followed in the history of American television.

As we know, the special episode of Friends is not an “unscripted”, ie a sequel to the original series, but a real reunion that will see the actors set foot again on Stage 24 of Warner Studios in Burbank, the studio that hosted all ten seasons of Friends, to give life to a show of which, for now, we still know very little.

Certain (also because it was paid in gold) the presence of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry e David Schwimmer, who have agreed to return in front of the cameras to share the memories of those ten years that have turned their lives and their careers upside down, but also of some guests that HBO Max has just confirmed, many of them great fans of the series: David Beckham, Justin Bieber, i BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Kit Harington, Mindy Kaling and Malala Yousafzai. In the cast, however, there are also other actors who, in Friends, have had more or less great roles like Maggie Wheeler (Janice), James Michael Tyler (Gunther), Elliott Gould (Jack, father of Ross and Monica), Larry Hankin (Mr. Heckles, neighbor of Monica), Christina Pickles (Judy, mother of Ross and Monica), Tom Selleck (Richard, Monica’s boyfriend) e Reese Witherspoon (Jill, Rachel’s sister), meanwhile starring alongside Jennifer Aniston of The Morning Show, of which we will soon see the second season on Apple Tv +.

The direction is by Ben Winston, while the six actors also worked as executive producers of the special along with the creators of Friends Marta Kauffman and David Crane and executive producer Kevin Bright. The episode, which was supposed to accompany the debut of HBO’s streaming platform on May 27 last year, has been postponed several times due to pandemics, and allowed the actors, guest stars and workers to return safely only a few weeks ago. For who was wondering, at the moment the episode is not expected to be released in Italy. Currently the 10 seasons of Friends are available on Netflix, but HBO Max is unlikely to hand over the rights to one of its fiercest competitors. We’ll see.
