The Brazilian Ministry of Health announced yesterday a new tragic number of deaths due to Covid-19, with 3,650 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours, just three days after exceeding the limit of 3,000 daily deaths, as the epidemiological situation in the country is out of control.
Since the start of the health crisis a year ago, a total of 307,112 people have died due to Covid-19, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
In the midst of many problems and delays in the vaccination campaign, lack of national coordination and the prevalence of the most infectious, and deadliest, variant strain of the new coronavirus first detected in the Amazon, Zeich Bolsonaro Brazil’s period of crisis is in full swing. Continuing to accelerate since the last week of February, COVID-19 mortality will break all records in March after the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in 2020.
The pressure on far-right President Bolsonaro is mounting on how to deal with the health crisis, which he is downgrading by avoiding the use of a mask, leaning against lockdowns and raising doubts about vaccines against the disease.
About 84,245 new infections have been reported in the past 24 hours, a high percentage confirming the dire epidemiological situation. The country recorded more than 100,000 daily Covid-19 infections for the first time on Thursday.
Behind only the US, Brazil records the second pandemic in the world.
The vaccination campaign is moving very slowly. After more than two months, just 6% of 212 million Brazilians have received a first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 2% of both doses.
Only two vaccines are used in the country, AstraZeneca and CoronaVac from the Chinese laboratory Sinovac.
Yesterday, the authorities of the State of Sao Paulo and then of Brazil announced many promising pre-clinical trials for some 100% Brazilian vaccines, which will accelerate the vaccination campaign.
Northern Macedonia: Case record – Citizens travel en masse to Serbia to be vaccinated
Northern Macedonia recorded yesterday Friday, 1,422 new cases of coronavirus, the largest daily increase in cases in the country since the epidemic began.
At the same time, the positivity index was very high yesterday, which jumped to 33.5%, while 33 people who had been infected with coronavirus ended up.
The total number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in this Balkan country of just two million inhabitants now stands at 124,910, while the number of deaths from complications of the disease has reached 3,607.
Meanwhile, several thousand citizens of Northern Macedonia, as well as Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, have been flocking to Serbia and Belgrade in recent days to be vaccinated against Covid-19 free of charge.
Serbia has announced that it will be able to vaccinate foreign nationals if they have applied electronically to the Serbian health authorities and received a response.
Vaccinations of foreign nationals take place only in Belgrade, in the large exhibition space of the Serbian capital. They are given only AstraZeneca vaccine and not vaccines from other companies also available in Serbia.
According to all indications, these are vaccines that Serbia procured to immunize its own population, but many Serbs avoid being vaccinated with the vaccine of this company and there is a risk that the quantities of these vaccines will expire and be discarded. That is why, according to Skopje media, Serbia is offering them free of charge to citizens of neighboring countries, where there are almost no vaccines.
