From Bahia to Rio de Janeiro: 5 of the 10 best beaches in the world are in Brazil

A survey by the International Center for Training in Beach Management and Certification analyzed several countries to verify the quality of their coasts and put together a list of the 10 best in the world. Five beaches in Brazil made it to the ranking with locations in Bahia and Rio de Janeiro. The first position went to Varadero (Meliá Antillas), from Cuba.

Researchers evaluated 123 beaches, from Argentina, Colombia, New Zealand, Spain, Venezuela and more, to help tourists compare the quality of each location. Another objective of the study is also help improve the beaches — The research even weighs the regions according to the type of use: urban, rural or village.
