What a charm the 1000 miles! Enzo Ferrari He called it “the unique traveling museum in the world” and, today, is recognized as “the most beautiful race in the world”, many well -known characters have transformed it even into the most fascinating: a stage where beauty, passion and spirit of freedom parade. Over the years, the red arrow has attracted famous faces from all over the globe. Actors, rock stars, entrepreneurs, stylists and pilots: all united by a deep love for vintage cars, for Italy and for timeless style. It is not just participation, it is identification.
After almost a hundred years (the round -figure anniversary will be celebrated with the 2027 edition), the Red Arrow continues to make you fall in love. Stories, traditions and curiosities are three fundamental ingredients for the success of each event, if we add beautiful historic cars and famous people to these, the result is a perfect mix, exactly like the one that composes the plot, now almost a century long, of the 1000 miles novel.
Famous people in the running
Giannino Marzotto, entrepreneur and style icon, ran in double -breasted and tie, showing that the speed could also be refined. Next to him, the actress Ingrid Bergman, a discreet but legendary presence, who followed the race of the beloved Roberto Rossellini.
In recent decades, among the most recognizable protagonists have been the American conductor Jay Leno, the Oscar -winning actor Jeremy Irons, the former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard and the English model Jodie Kidd. Brian Johnson, voice of the AC/DC, ran these streets such as the British singer Amy Macdonald and the German top model Franziska Knuppe. Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia ran several editions. Impossible not to mention John and Lapo Elkann: custodians of a tradition that binds the race to the great history of the Agnelli family.
In 2025, alongside collectors and enthusiasts, there are Iginio and Debora Massari, an exceptional ambassadors of the official charity of the 1000 miles, a charity project aimed at supporting the purchase of the first Ultrasonic Mach V4.2 ultrasound in Italy, intended for the Breascia’s Hospital in Brescia, as well as two much loved faces of catering and entertainment: Antonino Cannavacciuolo and Joe Bastianich.
Made in Italy ambassador
The most beautiful race in the world is a made in Italy excellence, a product that combines the motor competition a series of cultural and promotion events that perfectly complete the appointment. The 1000 miles, organized by 1000 Miglia srl, a company entirely participated by Automobile Club Brescia, was born in 1927 as a speed race in line with departure and arrival in Brescia. The participants had to guide their cars to Rome and then return to the point of the street. Although since 1977, the race has turned into a regularity competition and the path has undergone some changes, the miles to face are always a thousand!
Today, to ensure historicity, registration is reserved for vintage cars that participated (or are of the same model as those who participated) in the original editions. The 1000 miles is a unique event in the world by elegance, charm, having the ability to combine the world of engines with the glamorous one.
The history of the 1000 miles
Books, essays, articles and documentaries have told the red arrow all over the world under multiple aspects, always recognizing it an immortal uniqueness.
The story begins on Saturday 27 March 1927, when the Isolde Frashini of Maggi and Maserati starts from Brescia. The roar of its engine gives the official start to the legend.
The next day, the OM 665 Superba wins the race by writing its name in history. Corriere della Sera writes: “The car passed through the streets of half of Italy as a dominant of time and space”. Mussolini comments lapidary: “He repeats himself”.
And so it will be, between a break due to the war and many editions full of events that remained in the minds of thousands of fans. Today the brand is at the center of a strategy that enhances history, style and vision through thematic events, educational projects and initiatives that strengthen the link with the territories.
The cars participating in the 1000 miles are a real traveling museum of Italian crafts, of the masterpieces on four wheels that enchant for elegance and timeless charm.
During almost a hundred years, the race has been from the technical laboratory to many experiments, some of which have brought large -scale innovations. Among these, the introduction of automatic wipers for high speeds, handcrafted tires with the anchoring technique, the removable rays for faster changes, anatomical seats for long routes and additional lights for night driving.
The 1000 miles is not only a race, but a collective story, an open -air art gallery, a bridge between eras, generations and territories. And every year, it continues to excite. There is something magical in feeling the rhombus of the engines cross ancient villages, sunny hills and crowded squares.
The 1000 miles 2025 is run until June 21, confirming the format in five stages and an itinerary that touches over 200 municipalities, from Brescia to Rome and return. A journey through landscapes, passions and legendary curves, in which each machine tells an era.
