Those nominated for Oscars 2025 are finally among us. With emphasis on Brazil in the film “I’m Still Here”, with three nominations, the ceremony takes place in March 2nd this year.
Animated films that were successful in 2024 are highlighted in the Best Animation category, in the case of “Inside Out 2” and “Wild Robot”.

“Flow”
In addition to competing as an animation, the Latvian film is also competing for Best International Film — including alongside the Brazilian film “I’m Still Here”.
The film, directed by Latvian filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis, won the Golden Globe for Best Animation at the beginning of the month.
In the plot, Gato is a solitary animal, but when his home is destroyed by a huge flood, he finds refuge on a boat inhabited by different species, having to join them despite their differences. The film uses real animal sounds and was made with an open source 3D animation program, Blender.
“Flow” arrives in Brazilian cinemas in February 20th in Brazilian cinemas.
“Inside Out 2”
“Inside Out 2” is the sequel to the 2015 film, which tells the story of Riley and her emotions, which control the young woman from the control room inside her head. Next, the emotions Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust need to learn to deal with the new Anxiety, Envy, Boredom and Shame, which arrive when Riley enters adolescence.
Released in theaters in June this year, the film became the eighth highest-grossing film in the history of cinema, the highest-grossing film of all time in Brazil and the highest-grossing film for Pixar.
The animation can be seen on the Disney+ streaming service.
“Memoir of a Snail”
Stop motion animation features Grace Pudel, a snail collecting girl who, after a series of misfortunes, learns to find confidence in herself amid the disorder of everyday life.
The film won the best film award at the Annecy Festival.
“Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl”
An eccentric inventor and his faithful companion Gromit face a new challenge when he creates an “intelligent gnome” that appears to have a life of its own. However, things take a sinister turn when a vengeful figure from the past emerges, threatening Wallace’s safety and his ability to invent.
The film is an original Netflix production.
“Wild Robot”
The adventure follows the journey of a robot – the ROZZUM 7134 unit, “Roz” – who is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and needs to learn to adapt to the hostile environment, gradually building relationships with the native animals.
The direction is Chris Sanders known for his work on “Lilo & Stitch“ (2002), “How to Train Your Dragon” (2010) and “The Croods” (2013). The plot is based on the novel of the same name by Peter Brown, a bestseller released in 2016.
