From the creators of the Fedor robot. In Russia, they propose to assemble a centaur robot for a Martian mission

We already wrote that Roskosmos will soon begin work on the implementation of the Russian Martian mission. Then the head of the department, Dmitry Rogozin, said that the state corporation was going to send to Mars a copy of the landing platform created as part of the ExoMars-2022 mission together with the European Space Agency (ESA). Now there are more details on this.

It turned out that the ready-made landing platform “Kazachok”, which is part of the Russian descent vehicle, is now in Europe. And there’s no way to get her back. But the head of Roskosmos does not lose heart: firstly, the Russian side has the drawings and complete documentation of the Kazachka, and secondly, the state corporation can offer something new for the descent vehicle.

“Europeans are inherently pirates, robbers… Will we assemble such a module on our own? Let’s collect! Already “Android Technique” proposes to make a centaur robot – a torso robot with manipulators, some head lifts, there will be all the equipment for monitoring and signal relaying, “Dmitry Rogozin said in the General Line program, which he posted on his Telegram channel.

NPO Androidnaya Tekhnika is the developer of the robot Fedor, which has gained popularity on the Internet. Whether the developments of “Fedor” will be involved in the creation of the centaur is not reported.

Dmitry Rogozin also specified that additional scientific equipment could be placed on the newly created lander. “Another thing is important – to plant a station in the right place so that it makes a study of the soil with the help of drilling, whether there is water – where did it go, these Martian rivers – this needs to be done. We, when the task was to land not only our station – the landing module, but also from above the rover, tried to lighten the design of the module itself and removed a lot of payload from there, now it is possible to restore everything, ”he added. In general, the Russian version of “Kazachka” may end up very different from the one that is already in the possession of the ESA.

Recall that on March 17, the ruling council of the European Space Agency (ESA) declared it impossible to continue cooperation with Roscosmos on the ExoMars-2022 mission. Its goal is to search for evidence of past and present life on the Red Planet.
