From the point of view of the world economy, we will see much worse days ahead, says Guedes

The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, said this Monday (20) that the world economy will suffer in the coming years with lower growth. The statement was made during the event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), in Rio de Janeiro.

“From the point of view of the world economy, we will see much worse days ahead. Countries will review growth downwards,” he said, citing the United States and European countries.

The Economy Minister said that Brazil is “out of sync” with the world economy and that it only depends on itself to continue growing.

“Don’t believe that if it sinks there we are lost, it’s not true. We have vitamins to grow. Brazil has its own growth dynamics”, he said, at a BNDES event. “We are just at the beginning of a long growth cycle.”

At the event, the minister also recalled that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than 100 days and could get worse. “If war is escalating, we’re going to have to tighten our belts. We go again for sacrifice,” he added.
